End of September last year we organized the first startup innovation competition for the postal and logistics sector at Post-Expo in Geneva. The feedback we received showed that there was a so far unmet need to bring postal and logistics companies and startups together and to identify new solutions, products or technologies that could be relevant for the industry. We were urged to continue and launched PostalPitchTM, our new format for startup competitions. We now intend to organize those competitions as regular events, once or twice per year and to bring those startups on the stage that we pre-select together with a panel of industry experts.
We organized our second startup competition at PostalVision2020 on April 4th in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Arlington, VA, USA. The PostalPitch™ StartUp competition invited entrepreneurs from all over the world to present their latest ideas, products and solutions to the greater global postal-parcel-logistics-delivery industry at PostalVision’s eighth annual event. Out of all the submissions, a jury of industry experts selected 9 finalists who were invited to pitch their solution. Our expert jury reviewed and rated each of the finalists and determined the competition winner:
of the PostalPitch™ award :
Our jury included Thierry Golliard, Director Open Innovation & Venturing, Swiss Post; Olaf Klargaard, Director, Innovation, Geopost; Karlijn Krol, StartUp Scout, PostNL Innovation Studio; Gary Reblin, Vice President, Product Innovation, USPS; Farzin Shadpour, Vice President and Managing Director, Supply Chain, PlugandPlay and Elmar Toime, Chairman Postea Group.
The award criteria was based on innovation, value and impact. The winning solution needed to be able to identify new, so far unmet customer needs with a unique value proposition, good cost – benefit ratio, a robust business model and market entry strategy with significant value proposition.
The judges gave a clear vote and selected ZigZag, which provides a solution in an area that is of utmost relevance for postal and logistics providers – returns. We had some strong entries, but we believe ZigZag has the capability to be a game changer, with an impact on the industry, the environment and society.
We congratulate Al Gerrie of ZigZag and his team for the great work and for developing a solution that might have a real impact on the postal and logistics sector. We also congratulate all other finalists. Their solutions have been selected and they were invited to pitch because they, likewise, had an amazing product or solution to present.
Our newsletter brings you all the solutions in a nutschell and provides you with links to the company sites. Take a close look because those startups will have an impact on the postal and logistics sector !
